Sept 17 - 2nd second opinion and chemo training
Had the second second opinion from Sloan Kettering today. Same story - they agree with the plan at UF and don't think that radiation therapy is valuable. This cancer is rare and there isn't any direct research on it -- so they generally follow the protocols for pancreatic cancer. Not alot of treatment options here, but at least we can do it from home where we have LOTS of support.
We also had chemo training today (chemo starts next thursday) -- 2 hours of discussion of possible side effects and problems is somewhat difficult to listen too, but the nurse was extremely nice and caring and said at least 30 times -- if you have any problems or have any questions, just call us, we are here 24/7.
Tammy continues to improve from her surgeries, although it seems to always be 1 step forward and 1/2 step back. We are up to about 2 good days followed by a not good (but not horrible) day. Catherine is here and Erin will be here tomorrow for a weekend of wedding dress shopping.
Want to thank everyone who has been so kind to Tammy and the rest of us. It is amazing how many people love and care for her. I'm including a picture since I haven't included many recently. Just Matt and Tammy after completing a puzzle someone sent. By the way, she does more than puzzles, yesterday was a good day and she rode the stationary bike and the rower and walked about a mile...we just don't take pictures while she is doing that.
