Convergent Engineering created the core technology and IP for the ID-Cap™ medication adherence system being commercialized by etectRx. The ID-Cap ingestible sensor is half the size of a postage stamp and is inserted into a capsule. When the capsule is ingested, the ingestible sensor is powered by the stomach fluid and transmits a specially designed RF signal to an external reader. The custom integrated circuit on the sensor transmits an RF signal optimized to transmit data out of the GI tract. An external reader as much as a meter away from the body detects the signal indicating that the capsule has been ingested.
